“The only thing standing between you and growth is the story you keep telling yourself about why you can’t.” — Jordan Belfort

Dear Lagosians,

E get tory wey plenty of us dey tell ourselves every day, and that story dey strong pass Lagos traffic for Third Mainland Bridge on a Monday morning.

It sounds like this:
“I no fit do am.”
“I no get connection.”
“Na people wey get money dey succeed.”
“My English no good.”
“I too old start again.”
“What if I fail?”

Na these same stories dey stand between you and the bigger version of yourself. They’re like imaginary traffic, keeping you stuck when road clear pass wetin you dey think.

Let’s Enter Story Mode….
Imagine say person dey waka go bus stop for Ojuelegba. E stand for roadside dey shout:
“No Danfo go carry me today.”
“Dem go ignore me.”
“I fit fall for bus.”

So guess wetin happen? Bus go pass am. Not because driver no see am, but because he no raise hand.

Life be like that Danfo. You gats raise hand first.
If you no show up, life no go know say you dey waka.

The Real Wahala?
Na the story you dey whisper give yourself:

  • “I’m not good enough.”
  • “It’s not my type that succeeds.”
  • “People like me don’t make it.”

These stories dey sit down for VIP seat for your mind, dey drive your decision, dey control your confidence.

But Guess What?
➖ The only thing truly standing between you and growth…
➖ No be village people.
➖ No be fuel price.
➖ No be NEPA.

Na that voice inside wey dey tell you say you no fit.

How to Break This Invisible Fence:

  1. Catch the story: Notice when that negative voice dey start.
  2. Question am: “Says who?” “Is it true?”
  3. Change am: From “I no fit” to “I never try am, but I go learn.”
  4. Do it anyway: Growth no dey wait for perfect confidence. Action dey build am.

Dear Lagosians, hear this loud:
“If you believe the story wey say you no fit, growth go avoid you like person wey dey owe NEPA.”
But if you change that story… omo, even the sky go fear you.

Final Takeaway:
“Your growth dey wait for you on the other side of ‘I CAN.’”

With love,
A fellow Lagosian wey still dey learn how to change the story in my head.
