Young at heart,

The yolk of youth flourished,

The strong fount of love nourished,

“Come with me” he whispered,

“To a place where we can be alone” he’d say.

Miles and miles, they’d run through the woods

To an emptiness where they’d share their fill.

But somewhere beneath, lies a heavy doom

Waiting to bloom.

Like a rose, they’d pick up their love, but once the torn pricks..

The rose they’d drop.
